Bayern Munich will be without the services of both Tony Kroos and Arjen Robben for their match against Manchester City. Even though it is going to be of no use for Bayern Munich given that they have already qualified as the group winners, Bayern Munich will be keen to test the strength of their opponents, who have been spending a lot of money in recent seasons.

Bayern Munich have come out and criticised the financial instability shown by Manchester City, which has led to some animosity between the two clubs. The fact that Bayern Munich will be without Tony Kroos and Arjen Robben makes the case extremely strong for Manchester City to get a victory.

Arjen Robben has been an excellent form since returning from injury. In fact, he scored twice in the weekend’s win over Werder Bremen. The last few weeks has certainly been indifferent form Bayern Munich. They have suffered three defeats, which has thrown the league wide open. The fact that Tony Kroos will also be missing means that Manchester City will be looking to take advantage of this position. City need to win the match against Bayern Munich in order to have any chance of qualification to the last 16 of the Champions League. However, a win against Bayern Munich alone will not ensure their progress into the next round of the Champions League because they also have to depend upon Villarreal taking the points of Napoli.

“I’d have liked to have seen him make the trip; the disappointment for both him and me is great,” said Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes.

Bayern Munich have 13 points from their group matches so far, while Napoli and Manchester City will be fighting it out for the final qualification place. Napoli will be playing away to Villarreal.
