KROOS HUNGRY FOR SUCCESS

Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos has said that the team are hungry for more success this season after setting new records in terms of scoring recently. Bayern Munich managed to thump their Champions League opponents FC Basel 7-0 in the second leg of the last 16 stage recently. Even though they were coming into the match on the back of the 1-0 first leg deficit, the 7-0 win sent out a strong message throughout Europe. Bayern Munich will now be taking on Marseille in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. It is the competition that Toni Kroos believes that Bayern Munich can win this season.

Bayern Munich were extremely close to winning the Champions League recently since their last win in 2001. However, they could not impose themselves in the 2010 Champions League final against Inter Milan. This season, the Champions League final will be held in the Allianz arena – the home ground of Bayern Munich. It is one of the reasons for the club to be extremely interested in winning the competition this season. After the thrashing, Toni Kroos is of the opinion that many clubs across Europe will now fear facing the German giants in the competition. Bayern Munich are currently second in the Bundesliga just a few points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.

“Of course our win over Basel is a signal to our rivals. Everybody will have seen that we are back in form. Borussia Dortmund will have noticed our victory as well. We showed once again that we are hungry for more. This was an obvious signal not just to our German rivals, but to the other European teams too,” the German declared. Mario Gomez has been a revelation for Bayern Munich this season, and he is on course to be nominated for the European Golden Boot award.
