GERMANY NEED TROPHIES
The Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos has said that he is of the opinion that the German national team is one of the best sides in the world, but they need to prove that by winning major trophies. The German team underwent a major change after the exit from the Euro 2004. Since then, they have been challenging for all the major trophies, but have fallen short just at the last hurdle on numerous occasions. Since 2006, they have been in all the semifinals of the major competitions like the World Cup and the European championships. Yet, they are yet to win any trophy.
Toni Kroos has said that the German national team may be the best in the world, but they need to prove that by winning trophies. It is a well-known fact that the world does not remember the losers. Toni Kroos has been extremely unlucky with his international and club teams in recent seasons. He has finished in the Champions League runners-up position with Bayern Munich in the three titles at club level, while Germany where eliminated from the Euro 2012 in the semi-final stage. The nation came into the Euro 2012 as one of the favourites to win the competition.
“It was a long season, especially for the Bayern players, but we showed that we are absolutely among the top teams. This will also be the case after the tournament. Of course we will try to develop further. In this tournament, you could see that we had much better squad depth than in the previous two tournaments. The coach could change two or three positions and there was never a loss of quality. I think we have progressed a bit further, but it is important that we eventually win a title,” said the German midfielder Toni Kroos.
