The former Bayern Munich defender Martin Demichelis has said that he is extremely confident that his former club can win the Champions League title this season. Bayern Munich have been extremely unlikely in the European competition in the last three seasons after they have failed at the final hurdle in two of them. In 2010, they were beaten by Inter Milan 2-0 in the final at the Santiago Bernabeu. In the last season, they were beaten by Chelsea on penalties at their home ground itself. Bayern Munich could have easily secure their fifth Champions League title had not been for this.

Despite the unlucky feeling amongst the German fans, Martin Demichelis is confident that his former club at the one-day lift the title again, while he is also expecting them to lift it this season as well. The club has spent wisely over the summer rather than change most of the playing squad. They have brought in the Atletic Bilbao midfielder Martinez, who will be a great addition to the squad according to Martin Demichelis. The 31-year-old once played for Bayern Munich been extremely successful spell before recently signing with Malaga. He spent seven seasons at the club making 174 appearances.

“A lot of people thought I was going there to see out my career and go on a well-paid holiday. I knew this was not the case. We were fighting relegation first of all, but last year we were fourth. Playing Champions League with FC Bayern was compulsory – playing Champions League with Malaga is a dream. We beat Zenit 3-0 in our first match. They had just bought Hulk and Witsel for €100 million. Now we have beaten Anderlecht 3-0,” said the former Bayern Munich man. After having seven straight victories in the league, Bayern Munich suffered a 3-1 defeat against BATE.
