Barcelona Offers Hernandez A Return If He Wants

1 month ago Xavi Hernandez revealed to the public that he decided on leaving Barcelona after making over 700 appearances for the Spanish club. The midfielder was believed to be on his way on joining Qatar but that transfer has stalled and nothing has been done; now Barcelona has given the veteran midfielder the opportunity to return to the squad if he wishes to.

The Sporting Director of Barcelona, Andoni Zubizarreta stated that if Xavi wants to return and play once more with his lifelong club, the opportunity is open.

Barcelona’s Andoni Zubizarreta said: “We’re constantly in conversations with him. Xavi has the right to analyze all his options. At the moment, he’s our player. With Xavi, any news would be good. The time he’s had to think and reflect is something he’s earned, given everything he’s done for Barca. We spoke with him before the World Cup and we’ll do so again when he’s back from his holidays. Then we’ll decide what’s best for him and for Barca.”

Xavi Hernandez currently has a contract with Barcelona which extends for 2 more years and if indeed he does decide to leave Camp Nou, Xavi will be the 3rd player to depart the club after Victor Valdes and Carles Puyol announced their farewell from Barcelona.

During the 2014 World Cup, Xavi made 1 appearance as he represented Spain against Netherlands in the match that saw the Spanish side crumbling down and losing 5-1.  His presence has been fading away and Barcelona has already even signed a player who will be playing as his replacement with Ivan Rakitic making his way to Camp Nou. Even if Xavi does remain to stay with Barcelona, it’s doubtful if he will continue playing a central role for his club.
